DDA housing scheme to launch in June 2018

NCR News

Good news for all those who are looking to buy government flats in Delhi, DDA has announced that they will launch their most awaited housing scheme in June 2018. This time DDA will offer around 21,000 flats to home buyers at different locations of Narela, Vasantkunj, Dwaraka, Rohini and Sirsapur.

According to a senior DDA official, “Residences in our latest housing scheme is going to be much better and bigger than the previous one, with more spacious flats on offer. Unlike our previous scheme, DDA won’t include flats that were surrendered in earlier schemes.”

He further said that most allottees complained that the size of the 1 BHK flats was too small and uninhabitable. This is the reason we insist that applicants should go and physically check the flats before applying for the scheme but most don’t do so and only visit the flats once the allotment is done.

In order to solve the complain of smaller flats, DDA have also increased the carpet area of residences with the minimum one starting from 430 sq ft, which means these flats are more spacious than the older flats which were about 323 square feet in size.  On the other hand, smaller flats would be put in the EWS (economically weaker section) category so that applicants will be sure what type of flat they are applying for. Apart from that DDA is also offering 2 and 3 BHK flats in the scheme.

Last year, DDA had put a total of 12,617 flats on offer, for which it had received 46,000 applications. But after the allotment, nearly 6,500 allottees surrendered the flats, due to their small size and also their location.

So this time, DDA has decided that instead of merging the surrendered flats into current scheme, they will change their designs in order to make them more usable.
