To give a thrust to the real estate sector of the capital city, Delhi Government allocates Rs 3,106 crores for housing and urban development in its 2018-19 budget. Accordingly it was somewhere around six per cent of the total budget of Rs 53,000 crores.
Presenting the budget, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia termed it as a ‘Green Budget’ as it also focused on many measures to tackle the increasing air pollution of Delhi.
He said, “For the housing sector, the Delhi government has proposed Rs 165.44 crores, as compared to Rs 271 crores in 2017-18. On the other hand, we have also increased the fund for urban development, with an allocation of around Rs 2,782 crores, which was Rs 2,396 crores in 2017-18.”
Apart from this, the government has also fixed a time-line for every project whose progress will be reviewed by the chief secretary every week. Beside housing and urban development, government also focused on education, health, roads, sewer and water.
