Jewar International Airport: YEIDA gets 330 crore to start land acquisition process

Greater Noida: After a long gap of 16 years, finally the dream of the proposed airport at Jewar has again become a reality. UP CM Adityanath has directed officials to expedite work on the project along the 165-km Yamuna Expressway.

Talking about the land acquisition process a total of 330 crores has already been disbursed to Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) by the Noida Authority. A draft of the land acquisition proceedings has been sent to the DM.

According to sources, the DM will seek a government notification invoking Section 4 of the Uttar Pradesh Land Acquisition Act, 2013. Once the notification will be approved, the farmers will be paid compensation as per the Act and will also be rehabilitated as per the norms.

In the starting land will be acquired around eight villages which include Runhera, Kishorepur, Mukim Sivara, Dayanatpur, Rohi, Parohi, Ramner and Banwariwaas. YEIDA will require nearly Rs 3,000 crore to acquire these lands. They have already consulted a Central government agency Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited for a loan.

The proposed airport is expected to be operational in next 5-6 years and it is expected to handle 30-50 million passengers per year.
