DDA sanctions Development of Ecological Park and Sports Centre in Delhi

In a recent development, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has given sanction for the development of an ecological park and a sports centre at Badarpur and Shastri Park respectively. The authority has given its final approval on the same in a recently held meeting headed by Lt Governor Anil Baijal and DDA chairman.

DDA has release a statement giving information on both the projects. The statement said, “The ecological park at Badarpur Thermal Power Plant will be developed on 64.22 acres. Currently, the land is used for ash disposal. The authority will plant as many as two lakh trees that will generate fresh air for approximately 8 lakh resident living in nearby area. Apart from this, various other activities have also been planned in the proposed eco-park that will generate ample job opputunites.”

Giving details about the other project, DDA said that the sports center will be constructed on over 884 acres of land that belongs to National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). “The estimated cost of the project is Rs 300 crore and it will take around 2 years to complete. The park will boost sports activities in East Delhi area.” DDA official added.

To facilitate the sale of commercial properties in the capital city, the authority has also launched an online scheme under which around 225 such properties will be allotted to buyers on first come, first serve basis.

It is also said that the DDA has also given its nod to allot institutional plots reserved for old age homes and orphanage through auction mode in the meeting. Earlier, the government bodies were mainly responsible for the allotment of plots.
