WeWork, a New York-based coworking firm recently leased office space of more than 4 lakh sqft Mumbai and Bengaluru for expanding its operations in India. The company has extended the number of desks with this acquisition to more than 6000 desks. Till now, the company had 35000 desks in all major Indian cities.
Arnav Singh Gusain, Head of Real Estate, WeWork India said that the company is working towards expanding its presence in multiple locations in India with these new leasing of space. The company is also in talks to close the 3.8 lakh sqft land deal in Hyderabad for strengthening its presence down south.
The company plans to reach 6 million sqft work space in the current year and also have plans to expand its operations in Chennai, Pune and Hyderabad by the end of this year.
Karan Virwani, CWeO, WeWork India said that India is currently witnessing workspace culture shift and this led to an increase in demand for flexible and co-working spaces. He also said that the companies today expect to have interactive and innovation-driven office space and this is required to be understood.
WeWork has marked its presence in 21 Indian cities and have 35,000+ desks and 25,000 members till now.
Virwani also said that the company is looking to create structures that will be advantageous for both the community and the economy.
