In a major boost to the city’s infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently inaugurated the newly-developed part of Phase-1 of the Ahmedabad Metro which is linking major areas of the city i.e. Vastral and Apparel Park. The route has already opened for daily commuters from March 6.
The 6.5 km route is a smaller part of the 40 km long phase-1 of Metro which has two corridors. The first one is from Vastral to Thaltej Gram and the second one is from Gyaspur Depot to Motera Stadium. The larger part of this route will be elevated while the rest will be underground.
Apart from the inauguration of the metro line, PM Modi has also laid the foundation stone of the second phase of the Ahmedabad Metro. This will link Ahmedabad with the capital city Gandhinagar. One of the most ambitious projects, the metro link will not only lessen the traveling time but will also boost the city’s real estate market. The whole project is operated built by Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Limited, a Special Purpose Vehicle company also known as Metro-Link Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad (MEGA).
In order to add more feathers to the ride, the MEGA is also planning to construct skywalks connecting major metro stations. Some of them are planned at Jalaram Mandir Crossroads, Ashram Road, Vadraj and Sabarmati Railway Station.
Known as one of the most affordable cities in the country, Ahmedabad has seen some of the major real estate development in recent time. Be it residential or commercial market, both investors and well as developers are earning high ROIs. Many major multi-national companies like TATA have already set up their base here. Apart from this, many leading real estate developers like Adani, Nebula, Savvy, and Swagat have developed both luxury and affordable housing projects in Ahmedabad.
With the commencement of Metro, the property prices in major surrounding areas like Paldi, Narayanpura, Vasna will definitely shoot thereby calling for developers to launch new projects here. Other areas such as Vastral, New Maninagar, Amralwadi are also going to attract developers to construct more project to fulfill the housing demands in the city, suggests experts.
