Maharashtra Government Offers Online Check System for Land Records

Mumbai News

The Maharashtra Government has taken a positive step in order to bring transparency in buying and selling of property in the State. The Government has digitized more than 30 crore land records which will be available online for the people in a short span of time.

This online documentation of land records such as the name of the property owner, area, payment status, and unclear dues can be cross-checked by the home buyers before making the final deal.  C. Vidyasagar Rao, Governor of the State was quoted saying that, “Cadastral maps (showing the extent, value, and ownership of land, especially for taxation) of six districts of Raigad, Aurangabad, Pune, Amravati, Nashik and Nagpur are being digitized in the first phase.”

The Maharashtra State is uploading the land records as a part of Central Government-sponsored Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme.

This is said to be an initiative towards making the property deals more fair as the buyer gets to know whether the amount he or she is paying is worth or not.
