After waiting for almost one year, the proposed Pune international airport or Purandar airport has finally got defence ministry nod for preparing a detailed project report (DPR). The proposed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje International Airport project aims to provide direct connectivity to adjoining areas with Pune city and other places.

In March 2017, German consulting organization, Dorsch has received the contract to prepare the DPR. The company has developed many international airports in cities of Berlin, Munich, Kuwait, and Frankfurt. According to District collector Saurabh Rao, land acquisition work will start soon so that the construction of the airport too gets a push.

Once the work on the proposed international airport will start, it will also boost the real estate market of the areas in its vicinity. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has already announced many infrastructural developments around the area like hotels, commercial projects as well as residential projects. Development of special ring roads is also in the list, which will connect the airport to the major business and industrial hubs of the city like Chakan MIDC, parts of Talegaon MIDC, Bhosari MIDC and Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park.

Talking about the residential development, surrounding areas like Bibvewadi, Saswad, Dhanori and Bhosle Nagar are supposed to see an increase in the housing demand because of the presence of ample amenities. According to realty experts, after all the infrastructural expansions, there will also be a surge in current property prices of adjoining residential localities like Rajgurunagar, Talegaon, Chakan, Satara, Raigad, Sangli, and Kolhapur.

So with many interesting opportunities in the bag, the proposed airport has already attracted many builders and investors in order to give a boom to the real estate market of the surrounding areas.
