Kanpur Metro receives clearances from all Authorities

News

The work on Kanpur metro rail project will begin soon as the project has received clearances and No-Objection Certificate from all the concerned authorities. The work on this project is already delayed and will now be undertaken by the LMRC i.e. Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation.

There are two corridors as a part of Kanpur metro and the first one will connect IIT and Naubasta while the second corridor will connect CSA University and Jarauli.

The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation has received NOCs from all the concerned authorities including the National Highway Authority of India NHAI.

The Kanpur metro was proposed a long time back but the delay is caused due to non-receival of clearances from the respective authorities.

The first corridor will be 26-km long and connect IIT with Naubasta via Moti Jheel. There will be 14 metro stations on this route as 8 stations are proposed to be built underground. Similarly, the second corridor is proposed to cover a distance of 10 km and will connect CSA University to Jarauli. This stretch will have 1 elevated and 4 underground metro stations.

The Kanpur metro project is estimated to cost Rs 13,721 crore and is believed to be completed in next three years i.e. 2022.
