Good news for Delhi-Noida daily commuters, soon you will be relieved from snarling traffic jams as Noida authority is all set to open the third bridge over Shahdara drain by mid of this month. This bridge is situated between Noida sector- 14 and 14 A and the authority at present is working on its widening.
In order to end massive traffic jam between Delhi and Noida, the Noida Authority has sanctioned widening of four bridges across Shahdara Drain in 2013. The estimated cost of the project was 90 crore. In this lieu, the authority is currently expediting work on the third bridge between 14 and 14 A.
This 72-meter long bridge was earlier constructed by Delhi flood control department which now is being widened by Noida Authority with a construction cost of 5.39 crores.
Elaborating more on the above, Rajeev Tyagi, General Manager, Noida Authority said, “As of now, 95% of the work has already been completed. We have done all the necessary inspections and have accelerated the workers to complete the rest of the work fast so that we can open it in the coming two weeks. Once the bridge will open, there will be a relief to the daily commuters between Delhi and Noida who are taking this route to cross the state border.”
The Authority has already opened two of the widened bridged over the drain for public. First was at Sector- 18 Noida and second was the Kalindi Kunj Bridge which was recently inaugurated.
Moreover, an MoU was also signed between the Delhi and Noida Government on carrying on the complete work as the Shahdara drain falls under the purview of Government of Delhi. As per the MoU, the Noida Authority will play the role of funding organization while the Delhi government will be the executing body.
