To ease traffic flow through the national capital, the much awaited Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway is all set to be inaugurated on November 19. The announcement has been made by Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and it will be done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Manohar Lal Khattar who reviewed the KMP Expressway project and the arrangements regarding the Prime Minister’s visit to Sultanpur village in Gurugram on November 19 said, “The prime minister will address a public meeting near Farukhnagar crossing in Gurgaon, where he would dedicate various projects to the people of the state. All the preparations are done for the inauguration,”
“Apart from the expressway, he will also inaugurate the Ballabhgarh Metro Link, lay foundation stone of Haryana Vishwakarma Skill University in Palwal and various other development projects on the same day,” Khattar added.
Talking about the expressway, it will connect four major national highways (NH), NH-1 (Delhi-Ambala-Amritsar), NH-2 (Delhi-Agra-Varanasi-Dankuni), NH-8 (Delhi-Jaipur-Ahmedabad-Mumbai) and NH-10 (Delhi-Hisar-Fazilka-Indo-Pak border), as it passes through five districts in Haryana namely Sonipat, Jhajjar, Gurgaon, Mewat, and Palwal.
The expressway will also significantly reduce the traffic from north Indian states to central, western and south India and vice versa. Also, it will provide an alternative route to vehicles, especially heavy ones to go towards Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan without creating traffic vows in the national capital.
Recently, the Haryana Government has also given its approval for the development of five new cities along Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) expressway. These cities will be developed in an area of 50,000 hectares on each side of the 135 km long expressway and will cover eight districts of the state — Sonipat, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Gurugram, Rewari, Mewat, Faridabad, and Palwal.
